Nicholas Garland studied at the Slade School of Fine Art. For some years he worked as a stage manager and theatre director. In 1966, Nicholas joined The Daily Telegraph as its first political cartoonist. He moved to The Independent in 1984, rejoining The Telegraph in 1991.
As well as being an acclaimed cartoonist, Nicholas has exhibited his paintings and woodcuts widely.
